The DCC is here to help you grow your data consulting business.
We want to kick this edition off with data literacy. We found, data literacy is the stepping stone to scale up individual data consulting engagements.
The idea is simple: By becoming more data literate, your client gets more data-savvy and thus wants more high-end, high-margin services from you.
But as we’ve covered in an article, you’ll be met with quite a bit of resistance from clients.
So, we’ve collected a few resources to help you with selling data literacy:
Resources
Measure Data Literacy: How to Assess Your Organization’s Understanding and Usage of Data [Includes 12 Critical Questions] - by Atlan - is a great place to start a comprehensive data literacy assessment. The guide will help you to design your own custom survey you can use with your clients.
How Data Literate Are You? - by the Data Literacy Project- - is a super simple 10-question survey to classify the taker into one of a couple simple categories. I found it to be decent and very helpful to get started.
2023 Global Data Literacy Benchmark - also in part by Jane Crofts, one person behind the Data Literacy Project - is a big survey providing you with a benchmark to measure your assessments. What’s an assessment without a benchmark after all?
Data literacy is the new black * - by HelloFresh - is an article on the data literacy education program that the company HelloFresh rolled out. It’s a great case study on data literacy success and a good roadmap for yourself to use to consult clients on.
How Airbnb is Boosting Data Literacy With ‘Data U Intensive’ Training - by Airbnb - is another large case study on data literacy programs. I like this one because it talks a lot about the benefits to businesses, more selling points for you and your clients.
Until next time
